Frequently asked questions
Starting therapy comes with a lot of unspoken questions. Here are honest answers to the ones I hear most — search or browse by topic below.
Getting started
Yes. The first session has no cost and no commitment attached. It's a chance for us to meet, for you to ask questions, and for us both to feel out whether this is the right fit — with no pressure either way.
You don't need a crisis to start. Many people come simply because something feels unclear, heavy, or stuck — and want a space to think it through with support. If you're asking the question, it's usually worth a conversation.
We take time to get to know each other, I explain how therapy works, and we talk about what brings you in. There's no pressure to have it all figured out — showing up is the only requirement.
Logistics
Yes, sessions are available both online and face-to-face, depending on what's easier for you. Online sessions are held on a secure, private video platform.
Fees are discussed openly during your free first session, based on session format and frequency, so there are no surprises.
Most clients start with weekly sessions, which gives momentum to the work. Frequency can shift over time as we agree on what suits your needs and pace.
Sessions cancelled or rescheduled with less than 24 hours' notice, as well as no-shows, are charged in full — except in genuine emergencies. This gives the time back to someone who needs it, and will be confirmed with you before your first paid session.
The process
It's an approach centered on present-moment awareness — noticing thoughts, feelings, and bodily sensations as they arise, rather than only discussing the past in the abstract. Awareness is what opens the door to real, lasting change.
Yes. What's shared in session stays between us, within the bounds of professional and legal confidentiality standards — for example, situations involving immediate risk to your safety or someone else's.
There's no fixed timeline — healing isn't linear. Some people come for a few months around a specific issue; others stay longer for deeper, ongoing work. We'll check in on this together as we go.
